The change in the music industry - Digital Downloads

Digital downloads, are when you download songs/albums digitally. This is said to be a negative event to happen in the music industry. Legal download is good for the music industry, letting the music industry advertise in new ways. But illegal has become a problem, free music for individuals, is seeing a decline in the profit the music industry takes.

10 years ago the internet was not around, so people would have to go to the music shop to get their music. But now it is so easy to get, and easier for people to download music illegally.

This demise of the music article:

This article explains how the music industry are against illegal downloads, saying that ''illegal downloads are destroying our livelihood''. But as the writer says, the music industry were the greatest success story of the recession, meaning that the music industry are not struggling as much and they seem they are, through illegal downloads. In the article it states that gigs are still bringing in a large profit, due to people wanting to experience the music rather than just listen. The writer is also against illegal downloading, making him/her less relatable to most of the public. They state that the music industry allow this, because it generates the want to go to gigs, generating profit through that way. I think this is a valid point, if they cant stop illegal downloading, they might as well follow it and generate profit through over means.
